The Justice for Children GLOW Foundation, Inc. and the Kiwanis Club of Batavia will host its 2nd Annual Auction & Gala
"Bidding on a Brighter Future"

On September 22, 2012 at the Batavia Downs Casino to raise funds for the Children's Advocacy Center  to move into a new child friendly home.  The Justice for Children Advocacy Center has been assisting child victims of physical and sexual abuse for over thriteen years and serves the entire GLOW region.  All funds raised will be used toward the costs associated with a new facility for the child victims of abuse.

During Larry Friedman's year as President of the Kiwanis Club of Batavia (10/1/10 - 9/30/11), he proposed a Long Term Project for the Club which entailed raising the money necessary to acquire a permanent location for the Justice for Children Advocacy Center located in Batavia, New York .  This Center provides forensic interviews, medical examinations, counseling and victim advocacy for children from Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming Counties who are alleged to have been sexually or physically abused.

Since opening 13 years ago, the Center has been renting a former residence and was paying $18,000 per year in rent.  In adopting this project, the goal was to provide the Center with a more adequate and appropriate location, while relieving them of the obligation to continue to pay rent during times when grant funding is being diminished.  This will permit the Child Advocacy Center to better serve these children by using the money they have been budgeting for rent to instead provide much needed direct services.

At the first annual fund-raiser last year, the event raised over $30,000 and everyone in attendance had a great deal of fun during the dinner and auction.  Kiwanis hopes and expects that this event will get bigger, better and more successful each year.  Mr. Friedman would ask that you please read the attached invitation (Click here to see the full flyer) and then once again join  in supporting this very worthwhile cause by doing one or more of the following:

 1. placing an ad in the program

 2. becoming a sponsor of the Gala

 3. donating a basket or other item (large or small) for the auction

 4. attending our Gala event on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. at Batavia Downs

As many of you will recall, the GCBA donated 2 baskets last year, one of which included a Kindle "Fire".  If memory serves me correctly, one of our members won the Kindle.  We intend to donate similarly this year.  I am hopeful to see many of you at this great Event.
